These "Questions and Answers" may be lengthy, but they're worth reading. • Why should our group choose AmericanClassicTours over anyone else?
This is the most important question you could ask. The answer has two parts:
- The Staff, and
- The tour.
First,
The Staff: Our Tour Staff possess something few others have, extensive motorcycling experience. Experience? means different things to different people. To us, it means having a vast personal history with motorcycling. Our Tour Staff have worked as police motorcycle riders and instructors and have taught city, county, state, and federal police officers how to ride enforcement motors for a living. Our Staff has the insight to anticipate potential problems and the good sense to deal with problems appropriately. We are avid motorcyclists, and have been virtually all of our lives.
Next,
The Tour: After a perfect day of riding, you deserve to be pampered. Whether it's a gorgeous urban suite or secluded rural casita, we never skimp on the quality of our accommodations. Personalized concierge style service, daily motorcycle clean-up, refreshments available on the road, and knowing you'll see your luggage in your room, each evening, are always included. This is a special tour, you deserve to be treated as such!
• Motorcycles: Should I bring my own or rent?
Most participants enjoy bringing their own bike on our tours. And American Classic Tours includes the transportation of your personal bike. If you handle the transportation yourself, deduct $500 from your tour package.
• What am I getting for the cost?
At American Classic Tours your comfort comes first. From the time you arrive until the time you depart, you are pampered. Your accommodations are high-end. You will be staying at some of the best resorts and hotels available.
The Four Seasons Resort in Jackson Hole, Wyoming;
The Boulders Resort in Carefree, Arizona; and
The Mt. Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire are just a sample. The American Classic Tours Staff cater to your every need. The experience of a lifetime that only touring on a motorcycle can give plus the personal attention the staff brings to ensure your safety in the potentially hazardous world of motorcycling. These traits contribute immeasurably to our clients peace of mind. Tour groups are small, usually eight and rarely more than ten motorcycles.
• Why a guided tour over planning our own ride?
When you're on vacation, the last thing you want is problems. While touring with us, you won't have to worry about how to get from one town to the next or which highway will be most scenic or under construction. You'll never have to concern yourself with how to find the best accommodations once you get to town. We prefer historic lodges, the finest resorts, and premium hotels that are distinctive and offer everything you could want on a luxury motorcycle tour.
• How much riding experience is needed?
Riding a motorcycle takes time to master. If you question your ability, our tours may not be right for you. We will assess your experience level during the first morning of your tour. All riders must demonstrate proficiency on their intended motorcycle prior to departure.
• What weather conditions should we expect?
Our routes are chosen for their near-perfect weather. Depending on the luxury tour you've chosen, expect highs between 50F and 90F most days. Nights and early mornings may dip down to the 40's.
• Do we ride if it rains?
We rarely encounter rain, but if we do, we ride. We may try to wait out a storm, but bring your rain suits just in case.
• Is there a chase vehicle?
Always. Most of our customers come as couples. Occasionally the companions like to take a break and ride in our support-vehicle (space is not guaranteed). It's always stocked with hot and cold beverages and snacks. We tow a large fully enclosed trailer to transport your baggage, or a broken bike.
• What happens if a motorcycle breaks down?
No matter if its yours or ours, we'll make sure you're taken care of. If its yours, we'll assist you in getting it to the nearest repair facility. At that point, we help you determine what your next step will be. If its our bike, we will supply another as quickly as possible, guaranteed no later than the next morning. If a timely repair is impossible, and providing space is available in our support trailer, transport the bike to the tours final destination.
• Do the tours include airfare?
No, airfare is not included in the tour packages. We do provide transportation to and from airports in the start and end cities.
• What riding gear and clothing should I bring?
A good rider is always prepared. American Classic Tours recommends the following: Helmet, leather or Gore-Tex riding gear (jacket and pants), boots, gloves, sunglasses or goggles, and a rain suit. Casual clothing is acceptable for the evening. Our support-vehicle will carry your luggage. Hiking boots or sport shoes and some sport clothes are a great idea because there is always exploring to do, whether it's at a shopping mall or on a mountain trail. Once you've signed up for a tour, we will send you a comprehensive list of clothing, riding gear, and incidentals. When in doubt, ask us. If you're still in doubt, bring it.
• What expenses will I have?
You will be responsible for dinners (except for the first and last night), alcoholic beverages and incidentals. Spa treatments, helicopter flights, boat rides, etc. may be available at the customers expense.
• How much time is actually spent on the road each day?
6-8 hours
• How are meals handled each day?
Each day includes breakfast before we start and lunch on the road. Clients will be free to seek their own dining pleasure.
• Is there free time to explore after our daily ride?
Yes. We usually arrive at our days destination with plenty of daylight left to see the local sights. Some might opt for a local ride or shopping while others may enjoy a massage from the spa or simply relaxing by the pool.
• What activities are available on the stopover days?
A variety of day rides are always an option, however some may choose to use this time to enjoy other activities. Hiking, fishing, tennis, boating, horseback riding, golf, and mountain biking are just a sampling. Maybe you would like to stretch out by the pool or lake, explore a new town, or shop at the specialty stores. Many of our stopovers offer sightseeing tours by helicopter, boat, or even mule.
• How do we book a tour?
You can make your tour reservation right here by going to the Reservation page and completing the required information. Print the completed reservation form, then fax it to AmericanClassicToursInc or mail it along with a check for the deposit.
If you haven't done so, we recommend that you complete a motorcycle safety course (offered for both the beginner and experienced riders) prior to your tour. To find a school in your area, contact the
Motorcycle Safety Foundation at 800-446-9227. Check out the
free training we offer also!
• How much for my spouse ?
Since we are a marriage and family oriented business, we encourage both husband and wife to attend. If both ride on one bike, add 10% of the tour cost. If each have their own bike, the cost for the second bike is only 25% of the original tour package cost.
